Lake Champlain is in fact the sixth largest body of freshwater in the United States. Its long slender body extends between the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont. A relaxing backdrop coupled with scenic farmlands, sparsely travelled roads and historic points of interest make this a cyclist’s “dream come true.” Each day’s ride delivers you to a unique and intimate inn with a charm and history all its own.
Take pleasure in peaceful rides along quiet country roads, amongst wooded Green Mountains, past hillside dairy farms, across covered bridges, and into charming town squares. Stop along the way for a taste of some regional specialties, from golden maple syrup, to smooth Vermont cheddar.

Daily Itinerary
Day 1. Arrive in the town of Vergennes, the smallest and oldest city in Vermont. Bike fitting, and short warm-up ride in the Lake Champlain Basin, followed by a wine reception and dinner. (15 miles)
Day 2. Cycle from Vergennes north to Shelburne. Ride along country roads with lake views, dairy farms, and picturesque homes. Highlights today include the Shelburne Museum, Historic Shelburne Village, Shelburne Farms, and the Rokeby Museum, site of one of the northern most stops on the Underground Railroad. Optional 1 hr hike to the summit of Mt Philo for wonderful lake & valley views. (25 or 45 miles)
Day 3. Cycle on country roads through Ferrisburg, returning to Vergennes for lunch. After lunch cycle south to Middlebury. Today you can take in the University of Vermont Morgan Horse farm, and working dairy farms. (25 or 40 miles)
Day 4. 2-3 hour hike up Snake or Buck Mountains with picnic lunch at the summit. Before we return to our inn enjoy an optional 20 mile bicycle ride along the southern shores of Lake Champlain, passing though the towns of Addison and Bridgeport.
Day 5. Cycle north on country roads to Bristol Village, the gateway to the Green Mountains of Vermont and the village of Lincoln, a local artist community nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains. After lunch, return to Middlebury on peaceful, rural roads with beautiful mountain views. (25 or 38 Miles)
