Daily Itinerary

Day One
Take TGV "Train de Grand Vitesse" to Libourne, where we will pick you up. We'll lodge in medieval St. Emilion at three star Palais Cardinal. Bicycle fitting; warm-up ride; orientation meeting followed by exquisite dining.
Day Two
Ride through rolling vineyards with a morning visit to Chateau St. Georges. Proprietor Petrus Desbois will treat us to a private tour of his vineyards, followed by a wine tasting. Visit open-air market in Castillion and then head back to St. Emilion for and afternoon tour of the underground churches.
(28 miles)
Day Three
Transfer to Chateau Monbazillac, renowned for a sweet white dessert wine. Pick up fresh bread and cheese for a picnic lunch. End in Monpazier, a 13th century bastide (fortified villiage). (30 miles)
Day Four
Explore Monpazier, best preserved bastide in France or take an optional ride to Chateau de Biron. Cycle to Belves, and English fortification with a magnificent valley view. Arrive in Les Eyzies de Tayac, capital of prehistory. (27 or 37 miles)
Day Five
Explore the village; cycle to Lascaux II, and incredible reproduction of the original Lascaux caves with some of the most detailed prehistoric paintings in the world. Dinner is on your own tonight. (31 miles)
Day Six
Cycle to Sarlat, capital of Perigord Noir. Lunch in the old city; explore narrow passages that take you from shop to shop. (28 miles)
Day Seven
Along the river, visit Beynac & Les Milandes castles. Lunch in historic bastide of Domme. Today's scenery, with its river valleys, walnut trees, colorful flowers, will help you understand why this area was so coveted by both England and France. (25 or 35 miles)
Day Eight
Cycle to Rocamodour and visit its unique churches and towers. Perhaps you'll take the "elevator" down to the main village, overlooking Alzon Canyon. (34 or 48 miles)
Day Nine
Ride to Padirac Chasm, and explore the underground river and cave. Visit flowered town of Loubressac or medieval Chateau Castelnau. Farewell dinner.
